Work Lunch

When someone else picked the restaurant.

Someone else picked the restaurant and you have an audience. The goal is eating something that keeps you functional.

What to order where

Italian (Olive Garden, etc.)Full guide →

Grilled salmon or chicken with a vegetable side. Ask them not to bring the bread basket.

Ask them not to bring the bread basket.

Mexican (Chili's, etc.)Full guide →

Fajita chicken or steak with peppers and onions. Skip the tortillas and ask to hold the chip basket.

Fajita fillings without the tortilla is one of the best restaurant hacks on GLP-1.

American casual (Applebees, TGI Fridays, etc.)

6 oz sirloin or grilled chicken with steamed broccoli or a side salad. Dressing on the side.

Almost every casual American chain has a grilled chicken and vegetable option even if it is not prominent on the menu.

Steakhouse

Filet or sirloin (smallest available), steamed vegetable side, water.

Steakhouses are actually one of the best restaurant types for GLP-1. The menu is naturally protein-forward.

Sushi

Sashimi (no rice), edamame, miso soup. If you want rolls: one roll with sauce on the side.

Sashimi is excellent on GLP-1. Pure lean protein, easy to digest, naturally portion-controlled.

How to handle it

Look up the menu before you go. Deciding in the car is better than deciding at the table while everyone waits.
Grilled protein and a vegetable side is the order at almost any restaurant. The words "grilled chicken" and "can I substitute a vegetable for the fries" work everywhere.
Order first if you can. It reduces the pressure of watching everyone else order.
Most people care far less about what is on your plate than you think.
Carbonated drinks fill you up before food arrives. Time them around the meal.
A half-eaten plate is fine. Box it or leave it.
If someone asks why you are not eating much: "I'm on a medication that affects my appetite" is honest and enough. "I'm not very hungry today" also works. Either one ends the conversation.

"I'm on a medication that affects my appetite" is simple, true, and most people will nod and move on. Not being hungry is the medication working.

New to GLP-1?

In your first few months, look up the menu and decide before you go. Order grilled protein and a vegetable side. You probably will not finish it, and that is completely fine.
